Job Description
Looking for a full-time medical assistant - Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 8 am to 5 pm. Wednesdays and Fridays start and end times can be flexible but would provide enough hours to be full time. Also would be cross-trained to help at the front desk with checking in and out, answering phones.
POSITION: Clinical Staff – Certified Medical Assistant (MA)

REPORTS TO: Physician and Practice Manager
Job Summary: The Medical Assistant performs the essential duties in a busy, growing plastic surgery practice. The position description has been designated to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification. It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities and qualifications which may be required of the employee assigned to the position.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma
· Basic typing, English and mathematical skills
· Medical assisting degree (certification from an accredited institution required)
· Two years of experience in a medical office preferably in a plastic surgery specialty setting working as a medical assistant
· Some surgical assisting experience required
· Minimum of six months’ experience using an Electronic Health Record or Electronic Medical Record

Key Responsibilities
- Set up for sterile surgeries/procedures, assist in those surgeries and proper clean up.
- Perform pre-operative appointments with patients prior to upcoming surgeries reviewing consents, pre and post care instructions for their surgery, initiate prescriptions electronically to patient’s pharmacy as well as answer any patient questions.
- Document in the EMR system the patient’s visit for the provider.
- Can efficiently and effectively answer patient questions regarding our providers, procedures, pricing, promotions, and any other relevant questions a patient may ask.
- Performs nursing procedures such as suture removal and bandage/dressing changes.
- Educate patient as required after provider establishes the treatment plan. Ensure the patient understands the treatment plan, understands the proper use of their medications, and understands their responsibility for compliance with the treatment plan prior
Qualifications
- Medical assistant degree and certification
- Surgical assisting or procedural assisting
- A minimum of two years working in the medical industry; plastic surgery experience a plus
- Experience using EMR; currently the practice utilizes EMA by Modernizing Medicine
